Embracing innovative technology

Tekla software from Trimble provides solutions for advanced building information modelling (BIM) and structural engineering.

Tekla Structures is intelligent 3D modelling software that produces 3D models containing accurate, reliable and detailed information suitable for manufacture and construction execution. Tekla Structures improves the way of working within your business and externally by creating  accurate ways of working and streamlining collaboration between all parties at all stages of the construction project.  Used to model stadiums, residential buildings, skyscrapers, bridges, offshore structures, plants and factories Tekla Structures has been used on projects large or small and is able to deal with the most complex projects.

  • Create accurate, highly detailed constructable models.
  • Model in steel, concrete or any other material.
  • Collaborate and integrate thanks to open BIM approach.
  • Handle even the largest, most complex structures.
  • Let information flow from design and detailing to construction site.

Architects, engineers and contractors can share and coordinate project information as Tekla Structures links with major AEC, MEP and with plant design software solutions thanks to open BIM approach and IFC compliancy.  The benefits of this open approach include better layout coordination and structural information that supports leaner construction. Tekla also links to project management applications that further help the users understand and visualize the true scope and context of schedule line items, material ordering, payment requests, and the objects that other project parties create.

Tekla Structural Designer gives engineers the power to design and analyse buildings efficiently and profitably. Structural Engineers can now design from scheme design through to detailed in both steel and concrete, all in the same software.  One single model will cover all structural analysis and design requirements encompassing both gravity and lateral systems.  Tekla Structural Designer offers completely transparent analysis results so design forces and deflections can be explored and all calculations viewed giving total confidence in the design results.

Building 7, Chiswick Park, London

Chiswick Park was TDS’ first fully integrated BIM construction project working in conjunction with PAD Contracts, Stanhope and Lend Lease. TDS designed, developed and modelled 3 external escape stairs and an internal staircase consisting of 108 flights in total. In addition we were also engaged to provide all of the room perimeter balustrades. One of the key benefits to this project was the ability to collaborate by exporting and then integrating our models into a master project model that highlighted any potential clashes or design discrepancies. All BIM work was compliant to LOD400 (American based CASE ran the BIM requirements for the project).
